Try some easy smoothies made with green tea

Are healthy smoothies your wake-up breakfast, lunch, or afternoon snack?

Here are five recipes to try using green tea and fruit for a delicious and easy smoothie.

Brew your tea first and let it cool.

You may use a green teabag, decaffeinated green tea, or loose leaf.

Adding milk products to tea is still controversial regarding bioavailability of antioxidants, but citrus fruit like lemon enhances tea antioxidant polyphenol chemicals effectiveness.

Tropical green tea

Brew tea according to instructions and let cool.

For this smoothie, you may use Japanese sencha green. Steep ½ teaspoon Japanese sencha in ½ cup water heated to 180F degrees for three minutes.

Remove the leaves and let cool.

Blend 1 cup crushed ice, ½ banana, and ½ cup pineapple until smooth.

Add the ½ cup green tea at the last minute.

Approximately 100 calories.

Mango jasmine green

Brew jasmine tea by steeping ½ teaspoon jasmine green or jasmine pearls in ½ cup water heated to 180F degrees for 2 minutes.

Remove the leaves and let cool.

Blend ½ cup crushed ice and 1 cup fresh mango chunks until smooth.

Add the jasmine tea at the last minute.

Approximately 110 calories.

Peach ginger green

Add a delicious fresh peach to your green tea smoothie!

Brew 1 cup Chun Mee using 1 rounded teaspoon tea leaves steeped in ½ cup water heated to 180F degrees for 4 minutes.

Remove the leaves and let cool.

Blend 1 cup crushed ice, 1 fresh peach, sliced and pitted, and 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger until smooth.

Add the tea at the last minute.

Approximately 40 calories.

Antioxidant powerhouse green

For super-healthy super-antioxidant polyphenol-loaded healthy nutrition, add berries to your smoothie.

Brew 1 cup gunpowder green by steeping ½ teaspoon gunpowder tea leaves in water heated to 180F degrees for 4 minutes.

Remove the leaves and cool.

Blend 1 cup crushed ice, 1 cup blueberries, and the juice from ½ lemon until smooth.

Add the tea at the last minute and blend.

Approximately 85 calories.

Exotic flavored green

Choose your favorite flavored green tea and prepare according to instructions. Let cool.

Blend ½ cup crushed ice with ½ cup low calorie fruit until smooth, adding the tea at the last minute.
