Tea in Nye Beach, Newport, Oregon

by Janet
(Newport, Oregon)

Nye Beach resembles a mini San Francisco in dining and shopping experiences. It is a secluded community on the Pacific coast in Newport, Oregon.

We used to go down to the Tea & Tomes (716 NW Beach Drive) for the lovely afternoon tea. Lots of dark wood and bright white lace linens. The chef always had new ideas for the savory selections and the scones were great also.

Now it's the Tea Party and even more British.

What's also wonderful is the store across the street--the Dapper Frog at 701 NW Beach Drive.

They have an extensive collection of Yixing teapots, along with some beautifully handpainted, delicate China (from China, of course) teasets shaped like flowers or animals (parrots, monkeys, butterflies).

I love to visit, but hate to take my purse inside as it's just too tempting (the ceramic teaspoons cost $20, but they're gorgeous).
